BRIEF: Old National Guard Armory in Frederick, MD haunted by spirits of the past SUMMARY: The Old Frederick Armory was designed by John B. Hamme and built in 1913 to house a unit of the Maryland National Guard. The unit, Company A, 1st Battalion, 115th Infantry can trace its history to the birth of the Nation as part of the rifleman organized by Michael Cresap to fight in the revoltionary war in June of 1775. The armory is now utilized by the City of Frederick as a community center. The National Guard moved to a new facility off I-70 around 1980. Numerous individuals have experienced cold spots, doors opening and closing, lights that mysteriously turn on and off, etc. in the armory. BRIEF: Ghosts, mules, barges, and a collapsed aqueduct SUMMARY: Given its modern state of disuse and mandatory closure at dark, one must wonder: 'if a ghost haunts at night but there is no one there to see it, does it still haunt?' BRIEF: Six of one, half-dozen of the other SUMMARY: The Delaware Governor's Mansion is haunted by six different ghosts. The house was built in 1790 by a Revolutionary War Colonel, Charles Hillyard. The land was given to his family by William Penn.
A Quaker named Daniel Cowgill owned the house during the Civil War. He used the mansion as part of the Underground Railroad. He had made a tunnel from the cellar to the St. Jones River so that he could help slaves escape. The mansion was an important part of the Underground Railway. BRIEF: Nation's Capitol ... and at least twelve hauntings SUMMARY: The Capitol is known as the most haunted building in Washington. It is haunted by more than a dozen ghosts.
It is also the city's logical center: the dome spire is the centerpoint of the city's quadrants (Northwest DC, Southeast, Southwest, Northeast), making the Capitol building the only building that exists in all four of the city's quadrants. Senate side is to the left (north); House of Representatives to the right (south), when viewing the building from its "front": i.e., its west-side that faces The Mall, The Washington Monument, The Reflecting Pool and The Lincoln Monument. One-block to the east is the Supreme Court. BRIEF: A vanishing, sulphurous stain SUMMARY: A sulfurous "stain" in the lower level disappears when it is touched. Employees have reportedly seen orbs near the stain.
