BRIEF: The most haunted house in Laurel SUMMARY: Built in 1790 as a wedding gift to the daughter of Richard Snowden, the Oakland Mansion once presided over 1,000 acres of land. This house has a reputation for being the most haunted house in Laurel, with at least five resident ghosts in full activity. BRIEF: A cut and a scare. SUMMARY: The old hotel, built in 1898 by realtor/developer George W. Albaugh, is located at the corner of Westminster Ave and East Main streets. There was a barber shop in the hotel. A man named Jim Hopes was the barber. Everyone in the town liked this friendly man who was truly a quintessential barber. BRIEF: This is a house full of oddities. SUMMARY: There is a house located on Belcrest Road that is reportedly haunted. One evening, one of the children who lived in the house was awakened by a noise in her room. When she opened her eyes she saw a ghostly man standing near her closet; he walked over to her and tried to hold her hand to calm her down. She screamed and yelled for her mother. BRIEF: Long history, just east of DC SUMMARY: The town of Bladensburg was begun by a indentured servant who came to the colonies in the middle 1600's. Ninian Beall owned the land known as Garrison's Landing, which became Bladensburg. BRIEF: The baby drowned SUMMARY: Back in the 1800's a family was going over the bridge in a covered wagon. The horses were spooked by a loud crack of thunder and they went running wild. The wagon came loose and fell into the river below.
