BRIEF: A watchful ghost. SUMMARY: There is a house in Beverly that is thought to be haunted by Susannah Upshur Dennis. She was the wife of the owner of the house. Her ghostly spirit still roams through the house at night, it is said, apparently checking that the place is in order. Presumably, she always liked a neat and clean house, and she ensures that the new owners keep it up to standards. BRIEF: Watery haunting. SUMMARY: With the largest estuary in the United States, Maryland has a rich maritime history filled with many hundreds of shipwrecks going back into the centuries. The shores bounding the waters here could tell many a tale. BRIEF: An old janitor's keys still jangle SUMMARY: Berwyn Elementary School (at the corner of Berwyn and Richardson) gave way in the 1960's to what is now called the Berwyn Senior Center. One catch: a janitor hung himself in the school, the spot where the senior center library now stands. BRIEF: The sounds of iron being hammered SUMMARY: The tavern is haunted by a ghostly man who has been seen on the front porch and on the outdoor patio. He has long black hair.
