"Knowledge is more like a stream than a lake, and sharing it does not decrease it." --Zaitsev
"History is not history unless it is the truth." --Abraham Lincoln
"Even if you are a minority of one, the truth is still the truth." --Gandi
"We wish to pursue Truth no matter where it leads. But, to find Truth we need imagination and skepticism, both. We will not be afraid to speculate, but we will be careful to distinguish speculation from fact." --Carl Sagan
"To the living, we owe respect. To the dead, we owe the truth." --Voltaire
"Sleep. Those little slices of Death. How I loathe them." --Edgar Allan Poe
There is no such thing as absolute "proof"; there is only evidence to support theories and beliefs. It's different for every person, every instance; how much evidence do you require to believe things are not what they seem?

"Death is the great Teacher, stern, cold, inexorable, irresistible; whom the collected might of the world cannot stay or ward off. The breath, that parting from the lips of King or beggar, scarcely stirs the hushed air, cannot be bought, or brought back for a moment, with the wealth of Empires. What a lesson is this, teaching our frailty and feebleness, and an Infinite Power beyond us! It is a fearful lesson, that never becomes familiar. It walks through the earth in dread mystery, and lays it hands upon all. It is a universal lesson, that is read everywhere and by all men. Its message comes every year and every day. The past years are crowded with its sad and solemn mementoes; and death's finger traces its handwriting upon the walls of every human habitation." --Albert Pike, Morals and Dogma
BRIEF: Katie's Church was named after Katie Vandine. SUMMARY: Katie's Church was named after Katie Vandine. Her story goes that her Finance, a soldier, was headed home to marry her, but instead word that he was killed. Distraught, she hung herself in the tree, in her wedding dress, at the church. Katie's headstone faces opposite of all the others. BRIEF: Beautiful southern Plantation - Haunted SUMMARY: The plantation dates to sometime in the late 1700s to early 1800s. In 1836, the plantation was sold to Jacques Telespore Roman and was called "Oak Alley" by riverboat captains. Jacques' brother Andre Roman served as Governor of Louisiana. Jacques and his wife Celina had a grand mansion designed and built, to include 28 classic colums surrounding the house, 12 foot ceilings and 16 inch thick walls. The final construction was completed sometime around 1841.
The plantation and mansion are known to be haunted possibly by Roman family members. BRIEF: This ghost perhaps exists just beyond the spotlight. SUMMARY: The hotel is almost one hundred years old. The hotel is now being converted into upscale apartments. [While it's sad to see things change sometimes, it's always much worse to see them go.]
The hotel was built in 1903 by a Confederate soldier named James Lawrence Kernan. At first, the place was called Hotel Kernan, for obvious reason. In the 1930's, the name was changed.
