BRIEF: Haunted Hotel in Old Chicago SUMMARY: The Congress hotel in Chicago was built in 1893 in the time of cobbled streets, gaslights and horse drawn carrages. Formerly called the Auditorium Annex, it was built for visitors to the Worlds Columbian Exposition. It was originally an annex to the Auditorium Hotel across the street and boasted a underground marble passageway called the 'Peacock Alley'. Several US Presidents have stayed at the Congress, including Grover Cleveland, William McKinley, Teddy Roosevelt, Willam Taft, Woodrow Wilson, Warren Harding, Calvin Coolidge and Franklin Roosevelt. The hotel is know to have many spirits roaming it's hallways and rooms. BRIEF: Several buildings, several hauntings. SUMMARY: The UMBC campus was formerly part of Spring Grove property, and you can almost always feel something strange in the air. It was a farm owned by the hospital that was used to grow food.
Spring Grove was one of the nation's first mental institutions. The college had problems with Spring Grove patients wandering onto UMBC campus. The campus was not only haunted by the live patients but also by a few ghosts. BRIEF: Speed causes bloody tragedy SUMMARY: A little boy haunts the road. The little boy lived on the road many years ago, He was playing basketball outside his house when he was hit by a speeding car. The car dragged his body down the road and made a bloody mess. Fortunately the boy died upon impact.
The little boy's ghost has been seen outside his old home, dribbling a basketball. BRIEF: The locals avoid this deadly intersection SUMMARY: The reasons are unclear, but the realities are harsh: Every month on average, according to locals who call it "fear street", this infamous corner is home to amazingly horrid traffic accidents: "Every accident is horrid and leaves a disgusting scene." SUMMARY: It is an area where many slaves were killed before and during the Civil War. It is said that many are still haunting the area. An old graveyard in the area is very active with ghostly hauntings.
