BRIEF: A vanishing, sulphurous stain SUMMARY: A sulfurous "stain" in the lower level disappears when it is touched. Employees have reportedly seen orbs near the stain. A picture was taken of an entity that was neither a Paranormal Investigator nor a "drifter" on the Towpath! BRIEF: Rumor of a haunting in a castle built on the side of Warm Springs Ridge overlooking Berkeley Springs WV SUMMARY: The castle was built by wealthy Maryland businessman Samuel Taylor Suit for his young bride, Rosa, in 1885. Rosa spent the family silver on throwing lavish parties and died in poverty. It is thought her spirit still lurks in the castle, a faded shell of its former grandeur.
… BRIEF: One of the first female institutes in the South when opened in 1839 SUMMARY: In the 1950s the building was allowed to fall to ruin. The roof has collapsed and the wooden floors are given way and now only a cavernous shell stand where a proud school once stood. The ruins have been partially restored and the building is now a tourist attraction. Today the school is the home of a very unhappy ghost. One young lady named Annie Van Delot was not happy with the Patapsco Female Institute and she did not like the town of Ellicott City.
PFI is often incorrectly confused with Hell House. Hell House refers to the St. Mary's College, catholic order of Redemptorists, in nearby (to the south) Ilchester.
