Green's house was part of the Underground Railroad that took the slaves from Dorchester to Pennsylvania and Delaware. Mr. Green was placed in prison for five years for the crime of helping slaves escape. He was never actually caught while helping slaves escape, but he was arrested and convicted after a raid on his house turned up abolitionist literature, specifically 'Uncle Tom's Cabin' (1852) by Harriet Beecher Stowe.
