BRIEF: Apparition of Dangerfield Newby still wonders Hog Alley SUMMARY: The first man to be killed in John Brown's Raid on Harper's Ferry was a free black man named Dangerfield Newby. He was killed by a spike being driven through his throat. He joined Brown's army in hopes of freeing his family from bondage in Virginia. His ghost is still seen walking down Hog Alley. He is dressed in baggy trousers and an old hat, and he has a terrible scar running down his throat. BRIEF: A "witch ghost" in a most active cemetery. SUMMARY: Sightings of a "witch ghost" in the cemetery; puts flowers on childrens' graves, grabs feet? BRIEF: An accident badly burns three men and kills one. SUMMARY: Back in the early 1980's, during construction of what is now a quite popular restaurant, 3 steamfitters were involved in a movie-like, fiery explosion. The restaurant features natural gas lamps inside. The men were working on installing the lamps, and apparently an electrical spark inadvertently ignited what became a small, intensely hot fireball.
