Open minds and open discussions. This site is a place of Light and Truth that exists because conventional wisdom, herd mentality and "the norm" routinely prove even more dubious and dangerous than any exhorted "fringe". Welcome are compatible, curious and open-minded souls genuinely interested in the paranormal, UFOs, cryptozoology, conspiracies, mysteries, enigmas, religion, spirituality, wicca, occult, and life and death and whatever may be before, during, between or after.

"Knowledge is more like a stream than a lake, and sharing it does not decrease it." --Zaitsev

"History is not history unless it is the truth." --Abraham Lincoln

"Even if you are a minority of one, the truth is still the truth." --Gandi

"We wish to pursue Truth no matter where it leads. But, to find Truth we need imagination and skepticism, both. We will not be afraid to speculate, but we will be careful to distinguish speculation from fact." --Carl Sagan

"To the living, we owe respect. To the dead, we owe the truth." --Voltaire

"Sleep. Those little slices of Death. How I loathe them." --Edgar Allan Poe

There is no such thing as absolute "proof"; there is only evidence to support theories and beliefs. It's different for every person, every instance; how much evidence do you require to believe things are not what they seem?

"I have sworn upon the alter of God, eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man." --Thomas Jefferson

Psy-ops "combined to redefine the parameters of acceptable discourse in America. Principal among the notions placed beyond the Pale was the practice and theory of "conspiracism" -- which soon came to include criticism of mainstream reportage. More than a matter of seeing cabals behind every murder, it was a way of thinking, a stance toward the networks, the press and the feds. Anyone who looked too deeply into events, or who asked too many questions, was dismissed as "a conspiracy theorist." (This, after MK-ULTRA, Iran-Contra, BCCI, and the destruction of the World Trade Centers.) In some ways, it is as if the century itself has been encrypted, so that if an historian would be honest, he must also become an investigative reporter. Failing that, we are left at the mercy of ambitious academicians and journalists, stenographers to power who are themselves complicit in an astonishing string of cover-ups and atrocities that stretch from Dealy Plaza to Watergate, Waco to 9/11." --Peter Levenda

Mountaineer Opry House

BRIEF: A gifted ghost

SUMMARY: The Mountaineer Opry House is haunted by a ghostly apparition that likes to play the banjo. Reportedly, the ghost is quite a gifted player.

Old Train Depot & Tunnel

BRIEF: Ghost train

SUMMARY: The Old Depot was built by the Cumberland and Pennsylvania Railroad Company in 1891 as a passenger and freight station. Two passenger trains ran daily from Cumberland to Piedmont via Frostburg ending service in 1942. In 1973, the abandoned building was renovated in 1989 as a restaurant and shops to accommodate the public and passengers of the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad steam passenger train; the restaurant is currently closed. The site also houses the Thrasher Museum, which boast a variety of rail carriages on display. Some claim that sounds of trains long gone can still be hear in this area.

At the juncture of science, spirituality and the supernatural

"To me what's amazing is that, whatever goes in the world, it exactly fits the number of pages in the newspaper each day." --Jerry Seinfeld, on Johnny Carson Show, 1990

"When you get old, the only things you remember are the things you dared to do and the things you didn't dare to do. All the daily stuff, the things you had to do, the things someone paid you to do, blur into the nothingness of 'unimportant to your soul', and when you look back on your life you only see the dreams you made happen and the dreams you were afraid to pursue." --P.J.
